gametes special sex cells not like other body cells
sperm male gamete (sex cell)
egg female gamete (sex cell)
gametes are special because: They have half the number of chromosomes and they have different DNA structures
23 Number of chromosomes in human gametes

ovary stores and releases eggs
oviduct connects the ovary and uterus...also called the fallopian tube

zygote fertilized egg cell which is not specialized
mitosis process that results in exact copies of the cell...happens most of the time
identical twins the embryo separates completely to form two embryos with the same DNA
embryo zygote divides into enough cells to get this name change....younger than 8 weeks
implantation the process when the embryo attaches to the uterus in the mother
fetus What scientists call the embryo after it develops for 8 weeks
placenta where the fetus gets the nutrients from the mother and it takes the waste from the fetus
amnion the clear fluid filled sac that surrounds an embryo
tissues groups of cells working together
organ groups of tissues working together
