| Somatic Neurone | >Carry impulses from CNS to skeletal muscles, which are under conscious control. |
| Autonomic Neurone | >Carry impulses from CNS to cardiac muscle, to smooth muscle in the gut wall and to glands, which are NOT under conscious control. |
| Sympathetic Neurone | >Originates in spinal cord. >Opposes the physiological effects of the parasympathetic nervous system. - Speeds up heart rate, dilates pupils. |
| Hypothalamus | >Controls the AUTONOMIC nervous system and the ENDOCRINE GLANDS. |
| Fight or Flight Response | >An aspect of the effects of the hormone; ADRENALINE which says that a response will either be to run away to saftey or to fight off the threat in an instance of danger. |
| Central Nervous System | >Part of the nervous system consisting of the brain and the spinal cord. |
