| 104. Domain | The most general level in the hierarchy of scientific classification. Includes Eukarya, Bacteria, and Archaea |
| 105. eukaryote | An organism whose cells have a membrane-bound nucleus |
| 106. prokaryote | An organism whose cells do not have a membrane-bound nucleus. Examples are bacteria and archaebacteria. |
| 107. Linnaeus | "Father of taxonomy" - developed and popularized the scientific naming system that is used today - uses binomial nomenclature and latin terms. |
| 108. binomial nomenclature | means "two-name naming-system" that identifies a kind of organism. The first name is the genus (capitalized) and the second name is the species (not capitalized). The genus name is a noun and the species name is an adjective, usually in Latin. |
| 109. dichotomous key | A tool used to identify an organism that uses a system of questions about the characteristics of the organism to narrow down the choices. |
| 110. Homo sapiens | The scientific name of our species (human). Homo = man, sapiens = wise. |
