QuestionAnswer
motion The state in which one object's distance from another is changing
reference point An object is in motion if it changes position relative to a reference point
International System of Units A system of measurment based on multiples of ten and on established measures of mass, length, and time
SI Systeme International
meter The basic SI unit of length; a little longer than a yard
speed the distance the object travels per unit of time; Speed = distance/time
velocity the speed and direction of an object in motion
plate one of the major pieces that make up Earth's upper layer
acceleration the rate at which velocity (speed and direction) changes; acceleration refers to increacing speed, decreasing speed, or changing direction
