QuestionAnswer
Photosynthesis The way plants make food.
Pigment A colored chemical compound that absorbs light.
Chlorophyll The green pigment found in chloroplasts. They capture light energy and use it in the second stage of photosynthesis.
Stomata Small holes on the bottom of leaves.
Autotroph An organism that makes it's own food.
Glucose A simple sugar that provides energy.
Heterotroph An organism that doesn't make it's own food.
Respiration The time when cells break down simple food molecules and release the energy they contain.
Fermentation Provides energy without oxygen.
