Vertebrates have backbones that you can feel in the center of the back like monkeys, birds, snakes, frogs and fish are all vertebrates
What traits do all vertebrates have? All vertebrates have a backbone

Most vertebrates have: 1. large brains 2. sharp senses
How do scientist classify vertebrates into groups? Scientist classify vertebrates into their groups based on their traits
Examples of Mammals 1. people 2. horses 2. Mice 3. bats

What are three traits of all kind of mammals? 1. they have hair or fur 2. Mammals have lungs to breathe 3. Young mammals drink milk made by their mothers
What are some traits of birds? 1. Birds have feathers 2. Birds lay eggs, birds don't give birth to their young 3. Young birds hatch from eggs 4. Mother birds don't feed milk to their young.
Are snakes slimy? No, snakes have dry skin covered with scales.
How do reptiles breathe? Reptiles breathe with lungs
How are reptiles born? Most reptiles hatch from eggs laid on land
What are some traits of reptiles? 1. Reptiles have lungs 2. Reptiles have dry skin covered with scales 3. Reptiles lay eggs
Young frogs are called Tadpoles
Tadpoles don't get oxygen from air Tadpoles have gills that get oxygen from water
As a tadpole grow.... they develop lungs and can then live on land
Amphibians Amphibians are vertebrates that have moist skin as adults
What are 3 traits of amphibians? 1. Most amphibians lay their eggs in water 2. Most amphibians have legs and usually stay close to the water 3. Amphibians are vertebrates that have moist skin as adults
What are some traits of fish? 1. Fish take in oxygen through gills in the water 2. Fish don't have arms of legs, instead fish have fins to help them swim 3. Most fish lay eggs and have scales
