QuestionAnswer
Photosynthesis A cell captures the energy in sunlight and uses it to make food.
Pigment Colored chemical compounds that absorb light.
Chlorophyll The main pigment found in the chloroplasts of plants.
Stomata Small openings on the under side of the leaves.
Autotroph An organism that makes its own food.
Glucose A simple food molecule.
Heterotroph An organism that cannot make its own food.
Respiration When cells "withdraw" energy from glucose.
Fermentation An energy releasing process that does not require oxygen.
