Layers of the Earth

QuestionAnswer
What is the mantle? The outermost layer of Earth, the layer we live on.
What is the asthenosphere? A layer made up of both solids and liquids, surrounds the inner core.
What is the crust? A layer between the outer core and the asthenosphere.
What is the inner core? Chunks of lithosphere that float on the asthenosphere, which causes the continents to move.
What is the outer core? 3-5 miles
What are tectonic plates? A layer made up of the upper mantle, has a goo-like consistency.
What are plate tectonics? The innermost layer of Earth, made up of liquid metal.
What is the thickness of the crust? The theory that the earth's crust is made up of plates that constantly move.
What is the thickness of the mantle? 1,400 miles
What is the thickness of the outer core? 1,800 miles
