Science(Separating mixtures)

QuestionAnswer
What is a mixture? Something that constists of two or more substances mingled together but not chemically combined
Give an example of a mixture Sea water (salt,water and lots of other substances)
What are the separation methods? Filtration,evaporation,distillation and chromatography
What is filtration? A method used to separate an insoluble solid and a liquid. E.g soil and water
What equipment is used for filtration? Filter paper
What is evaporation? The method used to separate a soluble solid and a liquid. E.g salt and water
What is distillation? A method of separation which can be used on a soluble and its solvent.
What is chromatography? Paper chromatography can be used to separate mixtures of substances which are in a solution
