Flat Foot Medial longitudinal arch is absent. 2 types: flexible and rigid
Paget's Disease of Bone A thickening and disorganization of bone architecture. Bone becomes abnormally dense.
Osteomalacia and Rickets Soft bone, you get too much collagen and not enough minerals (vit D) Rickets is a Vit D deficiency in children.
Scurvy Vit C deficiency causing delayed healing, bleeding gums, bruising & bleeding periostium.
Osteoporosis reduction in bone mass per unit volume
Osteomyelitis Infectious organism reaching the bone through blood or by direct infection from adjacent tissue or implantation. Children: Staph infection or E. Coli. Adults: fracture or surgery on bone and intravenous drug users.
Collateral Damage extensive muscle necrosis or cell & tissue damage, hemorrhage, tearing of tendons and ligaments & nerve damage.
Myositis Ossificans Damaged muscle tendons & ligaments become bone uncomfortable indistinct mass with hardening + heat. athletic adolescents/young adults following a traumatic injury.
Strain Trama to the musculotendinous unit
Sprain injury to Ligament
Luxation dislocate
Subluxation partial dislocation
Osteoarthritis NonInflammatory degeneration of articular cartilage manifested in weight bearing joints and fingers
Rheumatoid Arthritis slow, chronic and progressive InFlammatory disease of unknown etiology
Gout increased serum uric acid levels
Osgood Schlatter Disease Typical in athletic adolescents, tibial tuberosity becomes tender and swollen due to over use.
Plantar fascitic Micro tears in the plantar fascia involving the areas of the medial calcaneus or mid foot.
Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy sevear, progressive, X-linked inherited condition affecting 1- 3500 Males.. degeneration of muscle
Scoliosis lateral curvature of the spine
Kyphosis excessive posterior curve of the thoracic spine
Lordosis exaggerated cervical or lumbar curve
Spondylogenic Back Pain disc degeneration anywhere along the spine producing pain. may lead to nerve root irritation or compression.
Spondylolisthesis slippage of a vertebra onto another maybe congenital or due to trama
Ankylosing Spondylitis common degenerative joint disease that predominantly affects young men with peak incidence between 15 & 30yrs. Chronic inflammations associated with fibrosis and calcification leading to bony fusion (ankylosis) of the joints.
