Saltation Sand sized particles skip and bounce along in the direction that the wind is moving
Deflation Wind removes the top layers of fine sediment or soil and leaves behind larger rock peices
Abrasion Rock or sand wears down larger peices of rock
Loess Thick deposits of windblown,fine-grained sediment
Dune A mound of wind deposited sand
Winward Slope The gently sloped side of a dune
Slipface The steep side of a dune
How do Dunes form? Barriers such as plants and rocks, cause wind to slow down.As the wind slows it deposits particles on top of the barrier.
