WordDefinition
Cell Theory States that all organisms are made up of one or more cells, the cell is the basic unit of life, and all cells come from other cells.
Cell Walls These are tough, rigid outer coverings that protect cells and give them shape.
Cell Membrane The protective layer surrounding the cell.
Cytoplasm The filling in the cells that are a gelatin-like substance.
Ribosome The proteins on small structures that cells make.
Organelle The structures within the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells.
Nucleus Directs the cellular activities.
Chloroplast The stuff in the plant cells, food is made in green oorganelles in the cytoplasm.
Mitochondrion Organelles are whereenrgy is released when food is broken down into carbon dioxide and water.
Endoplasmic Reticulum A series of folded membranes in which materials can be processed and moved inside a cell.
Gologi Body Stacked, flattened membranes.
Tissue A group of similar cells that work together to do one job.
Organ A structure made up of two or more different types of tissues that work together.
Organ System A group of organs working together to perform a certain function.
