KDA -BODY MECHANICS TERMS
| terms | meanings |

| bedridden | Patient must have his position changed often. |
| body alignment | The arrangement or adjustment of the patients body so that all parts of the body are in their proper pisition in relation to each other |
| proper or protective body mechanics | Refers to the techniques of standing and moving one's body, using the strongest muscles to avoid fatigue or injury. |
| drape | Is the actual cover used to provide privacy during an examination or an operation. |
| dorsal recumbent position | The patients legs are separated the knees are bent and the soles of the feet are flat on the bed. |
| fowlers position | The patient is partly sitting with the back rest of the bed at a 45-90 angle. |
| semi fowlers position | The incline is less than fowlers position. |
| side lying position | The position of comfort to relieve pressure points. pillows are used to provide support and prevent skin breakdown. |
