KDA-bedmaking terms
| Terms | Meaning |

| decubitus ulcers | Tissue breakdown resulting from pressure or reduced blood flow (often called pressure sores or bed sores |
| closed bed | bed made with bedspread in place |
| open bed | bed made with top sheet folded so as to give patient easy entrance |
| occupied bed | one with a patient in it |
| posttoperative bed | bed made with top sheet folded lengthwise and positioned to one side, allowing transfer of the patient from surgical stretcher to the bed without unnecessary movement |
| draw sheet | small sheet made of plastic,rubber,or cotton placed across the middle of the bed to cover and protect the bottom sheet and assist in moving the patient |
| fanfold | mrthod of arrraging bed lines so thatthe covers and bedspread are folded at the foot of the bed out of the way |
