What is the test for starch? A few drops of iodine is added to bread. If the sample remains yellow/brown starch is not present. If it trns a blue/black clour stach is present. Starch was present in this case
What is the test for reducing(simple)sugars? When Benidicts soloution is was added to 7up. If the solution remained a blue colour sugars were not present, where as the the solution turned a brick red colour, sugars were present. Sugars where pesent in this case
What is the test for fat? Butter is placed onto brown paper. The paper is folded and rubbed. It was then left in a warm room to dry. If there was not stain present there was no fat.
What is the test for protein? Dissolve a sample of food in water,add a few drops of sodium hydroxide, add a few drops of copper sulfate.It the colour changes from blue to purple protein is present, if it stays blue there is no protein present.

Record the temperature of the water using a thermometer.Stick a long needle into a piece of cream cracker and light it by holding it in the flame of a bunsen burner.
