1st semester vocab for science

QuestionAnswer
Saftey goggles Equipment used to protect your eyes.
Graduated cylinder Measurement tool for liquids that can be used to find volume.
Mass The amount of matter in an object.
Flask A container used to hold liquids.
Volume How much space an object takes up.
Chemical change Change in color, temperature, production of light, solid precipitate, and gas.
Physical change Change in shape, form, and matter.
Proton A particle with a positive charge.
Neutron A particle with no charge.
Electron A particle with a negative charge.
Newton's 1st Law An object in motion will stay in motion and an object at rest will stay at rest until acted on by a force.
Newton's 2nd Law An object acted on by an unbalanced force will accelerate in the opposite direction of the force depending on the mass and the force.
Newton's 3rd Law For every action there is an opposite and equal reaction.
Balanced force When to force is zero.
Unbalanced force When the force is not zero.
Meteoroid A rock that soars in space around the sun.
Meteor A meteoroid in our earth's atmosphere.
Meteorite A meteor that hits our earth's surface.
Asteroid A large rock that orbits the sun in the asteroid belt.
Comet A rock made of ice and dust that orbits the sun and has a tail.
