QuestionAnswer
Atom An atom is the smallest particle into which an element can be divided and still have properties of that element.
Nucleus The nucleus is the center of an atom made up of protons and nuetrons.
Proton A proton is a positively charged particle in the nucleus of an atom.
Atomic Mass The atomic mass is the average mass of one atom in an element.
Group A group is a family of elements in a periodic table with the same number of valance electrons.
Period A period is a horizontal row of elements on the periodic table who share the same number of electron shells.
Electron Shell An electron shell is a region surrounding the nucleus of an atom containing electrons.
Speed Speed is the distance traveled divided by the time needed to get there.
Force Force is a push or a pull.
Balanced Force A balanced force describes a forces that are equal but opposite in direction.
Unbalanced Force An unbalanced force describes an unequal force acting on an object.
Newton A newton is the unit of measurement for motion.
Direction Direction is the way something is moving.
Safety Safety is a device designed to prevent injury.
Goggles Goggles are a piece of lab equipment that should be worn when using heat or chemicals.
Density Density is the mass of a substance per unit volume, found by m/v
Graduated cylinder A graduated cylinder is a tall narrow container with a volume scale used especially for measuring liquids.
Apron An apron is a garment worn on the front of the body to keep the clothing from getting dirty.
Triple Beam Balance A triple beam balance is a tool used for measuring mass.
Velocity Velocity is the speed and direction of a moving object.
