| Igneous Rock | Rock that forms when magma cools. |
| Metamorphic Rock | Rock that forms when any type of solid rock changes into another type of rock because of temperature or pressure changes. |
| Sedimentary Rock | Type of rock that forms from fragments of other types of rocks. |
| Superposition | The principle that younger rocks lie above older rocks in undisturbed sequences. |
| Unconformity | A surface that represents a break in or a missing part of the geologic record. |
