continetalshelf The diagram on this page shows the contintalsshelf.Note that water is reatively shallow over the continental .This shallow region is home to many livings things.
continental slope The continetal slope is steep drop off at the edge of the continetalshelf .The continetaslope is usually found more thsn 80 kilometers from the coast.
Mid ocean ridge which are areas of higher elevation that extend length of the spreading plate boundary , are formed on both sides of the new crust.They appear like an underwwater mountain range on the ocean floor.
rift zone Is the match , or valley , between the edges of the plates at a spreading plate boundary . This area is where new oceanic crust is continually being formed . Here magma rises .
Ocean trench A deep valley that forms when an ocean plate moves below another plate.
Ocean Basin Areas located between the edge of the oceanic crust and a mid-ocean ridge.
