Plant Orgy Reproduct

This is about plants having sex

QuestionAnswer
What are the two ways the pollen can be transferred? By insects (animals) or by the wind
What are gametes? Sex Cells e.g. stamens (male part), carpel (female part),
What do the petals do? The petals attract insects by being colorful or being small petals to be wind pollinated.
What are sepals? These are small, green, leaf-like structures that protect the flower when it is in bud.
Stamens These are male parts of the flower. They're made up of the anthers.
Anthers Anthers produce large quantities of small pollen grains containing the male gametes and the filament.
Filament Filament attaches the anther to the flower.
Carpel This is the female part of the flower. It's made up of the stigma.
Stigma It's where the pollen lands during pollination, the style, which transports the male sex cell to the ovary.
Ovary Is where it produces a small number of relatively large ovules, which are female gametes. They also often form the fruit once the ovules are fertilized.
Pollination It's the process where the pollen grain is transferred from the anther of a flower to the stigma, often another flower.
