Chapter 3


1. What is a solid? The state of matter in which materials have a definite shape and volume.
2. What is a liquid? The state of matter in which a material has a definite volume, but not a definite shape.
3. What is a gas? The state of matter in which a material doesn't have a definite shape nor volume.
4. What is kinetic energy? The energy an object has due to its motion.
5. What is pressure? The result of a force distributed over an area.
6. What is absolute zero? A temperature of 0 Kelvins.
7. What is Charles's law? The volume of a gas is directly proportional to its temperature in kelvins if the pressure and the number of particles of the gas are constant.
8. What is Boyle's law? The volume of a gas is inversely proportional to its pressure if the temperature and the number of particles are constant.
