| Matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space. |
| Energy | The ability to do work or cause change. |
| Physical Property | A characteristic if a substance that can be observed without changing the substance into something different. |
| Chemical Property | A characteristic that is observed when a substance interacts with another substance. |
| Element | A substance that cannot be broken down into other substances by chemical or physical means. |
| Compound | A substance made of two or more elements chemically combined in a set ratio. |
| Mixture | Two or more substances that are mixed together but not chemically combined. |
| Weight | A measure of the force of gravity on an object. |
| Mass | A measure of how much matter is in an object. |
| Volume | The amount of space that matter occupies. |
| Density | The measurement of how much mass of a substance is contained in a given volume. |
| Atom | The smallest particles of an element. |
| Molecule | A particle made of tow or more atoms bonded together. |
