What are marketable skills? Those skills that an employer will pay you to perform
What are transferable skills? Skills that you can transfer from one occupation to another
What are motivated skills? Skills that you enjoy using
What are foundation skills? Skills that every worker needs
What are the four groups of foundatin skills? Basic skills, thinking skills, people skills, personal qualities
What is intrinsic job satisfaction? When workers consider only the kind of work they do
What is extrinsic job satisfaction? When workers consider the conditions of work
What are three ways your life will be affected by choosing a military career? You cannot change your mind and quit. You are legally committing your self for several years. You will be required to do harm to other people and risk your own life.
When you change from a military to a civilian career, what should you expect? Anticipate emotional and psychological problems. Prepare for cultual differences. Make good decisions.
What strategies are helpful in learning about yourself? Take tests or inventories that measure your abilities. Look at your achievements in school/at work. Examine how you use your leisue time. Talk with a professional counselor. Write an autobiography. Write a goal.
What are the five basic skills? reading, writing, mathematics, speaking, listening
What are the four thinking skills? creative thinking, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills, visualization
What are the five people skills? social, negotiation, leadership, teamwork, cultural diversity
What personal qualities should you have to be successful? Self-Esteem, Self-Management, Responsibility
Why are the 17 Foundation Skills important? These are the skills required of ALL workers in the high-performance workplace of the 21st century.
What are five steps in maximizing your job satisfaction? Know yourself. Learn about jobs that meet your expectations. Have realistic expectations for work. Look at your possible career progress. Examine your values.
What is work? Labor for pay
What practical steps will help you in getting a good job, writing a resume, having a productive job interview and finding occupations that use similar skills? Kow what the different types of skills are, identify your skills, know the skills employers want, communicate your skills to employers, and learn new skills
