Rotate To spin in place on an axis
Air Pressure Weight of the air
Low Pressure Air pressure that means warmer, wet weather
Atmosphere The blanket of air that surrounds earth where weather occurs
Axis The imaginary line that passes through the center of the earth that it rotates and tilts on
High Pressure Air pressure that means dry weather with colder temperatures
Climate The average weather conditions over a period of time
Temperature How hot or cold the air is
Density The amount of matter an object has
Weather The condition of air around us, which changes daily and hourly
Revolve To move around an object
Humidity Water vapor or moisture in the air
Condensation Changes water from a gas to liquid
Precipitation Comes from a cloud in forms of rain, sleet, snow
Runoff When water runs along the top of the land into the nearest body of water
Rain Gauge Measures the amount of precipitation
Wind Vane Shows wind direction. Points in the direction where the wind is coming FROM
Thermometer Measures temperature
Anemometer Measures wind speed
Longitude Measures distances east or west of the prime meridian
Hygrometer Measures the amount of humidity in the air
Latitude Measures distances north or south of the equator
Barometer Measures changes in air pressure
Clouds A group of tiny water droplets that float in the atmosphere
Water Vapor Gaseous water
Transpiration The process that changes liquid water to gaseous water
Evaporation The process that changes liquid water from living things to gaseous water
Water Cycle When water moves over the earth’s surface, under the ground and in the atmosphere in a cycle
Fog A cloud that touches the ground
Nimbo/Nimbus Rain
