What is a cell? the basic building blocks of life
Where is hereditary material or DNA located? inside the cell
Free cell formation is accurate or inaccurate based on current cell theory? Inaccurate
What is a nucleus? The brain center of all cells that controls everything a cell does.
What is a lysosome? The digestive center of the cell
What is the Vacule? Where items are stored until needed by the cell
What is Hereditary material or DNA? It is located in the nucleus and holds all instructions for a cell
What is Cytoplasm? The jelly like substance that fills all cells.
Chloroplasts provide what and allow the Cell to do what function? chlorophyll and photosynthesis
What are Cell walls? Provides support for plant cells
What is Mitochondria? Produces and stores energy for a cell until it is needed
What is Golgi Bodies? Packages proteins and other substances for storage in the vacuoles until needed
What is the texture of Endoplasmic Riticulum or ER? It is rough or smooth depending on the ribosome's
Who named the cell? Robert Hooke
Who is Leeuwenhoek? Who is Leeuwenhoek? The first person to see animals in a microscope
Who is Jansen? The first person credited with making a compound microscope
Who is Schwann? decided that all animals are made of cells
Who is Schleiden? determined that all plants are made of cells
What is a Host Cell? The name given to a cell that a virus attaches to
What does a virus inject into the host cell once it attaches? hereditary material or DNA
Once a virus has nothing else to work with inside of a cell, what does it do? bursts out of cell
Will antibiotics kill a virus? No
What is Vaccinations or vaccines? We use these to prevent viruses from attacking us.
What is a compound microscope? A microscope that uses two or more lesnes
What animals does all flue come from? Birds
What are the two parts of a plant cell that do not appear in animal cells? Chloroplasts and Cell Walls
What did Hooke find when looking at a cork slice that looked like walled compartments that a monk would live in? only the cell wall of a plant cell
The purpose of the chloroplast is so plants can do what? convert sunlight into energy
What are the two basic types of cells. Plants and animals are one type and bacteria are the other type. Eukaryotic and Prokaryotic
