Science Energy Stack

This is my new Oct. 24 science stack for the energy unit

QuestionAnswer
insulator an object that can't conduct heat very well.
conductor an object that can conduct heat well because it is a type of metal.
melt when a solid turns to a liquid or when ice turns to water.
freeze when a liquid turns into a solid or when water turns to ice again.
matter anything that takes up space
heat a transfer of thermal energy from a warmer object to a cooler object. Heat is caused by the vibration of molecules.
thermal energy it has three forms conduction, convection, and radiation. It is pretty much heat transforming.
temperature the average KE of the particles in a substance.
vaporization It is the process of liquid to gas or water to vapor
thermometer it is what we use to measure the warmth or heat of the room.
conduction heat transferred through a substance by direct contact of molecules. It takes place best in a solid figure.
condensation the process of gas into liquid or vapor into water.
convection the heated portion of air rises and the cooler sinks. This creates a current.
radiation Heat energy is transformed through empty space.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
