QuestionAnswer
What is a producer? a plant that can produce its own food. it is the lowest on the food chain and is eaten by primary consumers.
What is a consumer? an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals.
What are decomposers? an organism that breaks down the cells of dead things into simpler substances.
What is a trophic level? any class of organisms that occupy the same class on the food chain, as primary, secondary, and tertiary consumers.
What is a food chain? a series of organisms interrelated in their feeding habits. the smallest is fed on by a larger one, that larger one is fed on by a larger one.. etc.
What is a herbivore? an animal that feeds on plants.
What is a carnivore? an animal that eats the meat or flesh of other living things.
What is an omnivore? an animal that feeds on both plants and flesh.
What is a primary consumer? in the food chain, an animal that feeds on plants
What is a secondary consumer? in the food chain, an animal that feeds on herbivores.
What is a tertiary consumer? top level of the food chain, feeds on carnivores.
