| What is a consumer? | an organism, usually an animal, that feeds on plants or other animals. |
| What are decomposers? | an organism that breaks down the cells of dead things into simpler substances. |
| What is a trophic level? | any class of organisms that occupy the same class on the food chain, as primary, secondary, and tertiary consumers. |
| What is a food chain? | a series of organisms interrelated in their feeding habits. the smallest is fed on by a larger one, that larger one is fed on by a larger one.. etc. |
| What is a herbivore? | an animal that feeds on plants. |
| What is a carnivore? | an animal that eats the meat or flesh of other living things. |
| What is an omnivore? | an animal that feeds on both plants and flesh. |
| What is a primary consumer? | in the food chain, an animal that feeds on plants |
| What is a secondary consumer? | in the food chain, an animal that feeds on herbivores. |
| What is a tertiary consumer? | top level of the food chain, feeds on carnivores. |
