Erosion

Unit on Erosion, Weathering and Water Cycle

Atoms The smallest building blocks of all things in the universe.
Bonds When atoms are connected at the electron level.
Beach An area where different levels of eroded rocks can be found.

Water Table From the top layer of soil to the beginning of an aquifer.
Aquifer A pocket or collection of groundwater.
Sediment Rocks, soil, sand and other minerals at different rates of weathering.
Load The different layers of sediment in a river.
Glacier A slab or chunk of ice that erodes as it moves downhill.
Erosion When rocks are broken and moved somewhere else.
Weathering When rocks are broken and are not moved.
Evaporation When a liquid turns into a gas.
Condensation When a gas cools and turns into a liquid.
Melting When a solid is heated and turns into a liquid.
Freezing When a liquid is cooled and turns into a solid.
Thermal Expansion When atoms heat up as they expand.
Thermometer Tool used to find the kinetic energy of atoms.
Temperature The measurement of the average speed of kinetic atoms in an object.
