Hydrostatic Pressure The pressures on and exerted by fluids when they are in equilibrium (not moving)
Osmosis The passage of a solvent (water) through a semipermeable membrane from the region of lower concentration to that of higher concentration, to create equilibrium
Valsalva Manoeuvre An attempt to forcibly exhale with the glottis, nose, and mouth closed. This causes increased intrathoracic pressure, slowing of the pulse, decreased return of blood to the heart, and increased venous pressure
