Food Chain A description of the feeding sequence of one set of organisms
Food Web A description of the overlapping food chains in an ecosystem
Producer An organism, such as plants or algae, that makes its own food
Herbivore An animal that eats plants, algae, and other producers
Carnivore An animal that eats another animal
Omnivore An animal that eats both plants and animals
Scavenger A meat eating animal that feeds on the remains of dead animals
Photosynthesis The food-making process in green plants that uses sunlight
Decomposer An organism that breaks down dead material into useful things like minerals and rich soil
Predator A living thing that hunts other living things for food
Prey A living thing that is hunted for food
Energy Pyramid (from the top to the bottom) Decomposer - Tertiary Consumer - Secondary Consumer - Primary Consumer - Producers
