Light Vocab/Terms
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Light | A source of energy. Allows you to see. |
| Transparent | Things you see through. Allows light to pass through |
| Translucent | Things you can cannot see through. Light is scattere |
| Opaque | Things you can not see through. Light is blocked. |
| Reflection | The bouncing of light. |
| Refraction | The bending of light. |
| Wave | A method of light transfer. One complete wave is a wavelength. How quickly a wave repeats itself (frequency) determines its energy level. Higher frequency waves are more dangerous. |
| Photons | Tiny light particles of energy. They travel in waves. |
| Electromagnetic spectrum | A broad range of light, magnetic and electrical energy. |
| Visible spectrum | The part of the electromagnetic light spectrum that we can see with only our eyes. |
| Ultraviolet spectrum | UV/Ultraviolet spectrum: The spectrum of ultraviolet radiation. The radiation waves of the sun. |
| mirror | A reflective surface, usually made of glass with a silvery, metallic backing. |
| prism | A transparent solid body, often having triangular bases, used for refracting light into a spectrum or for reflecting rays of light. |
| Angle of incidence | The angle light hits an object. |
| Angle of reflection | The angle light bounce off an object. |
| Angle of refraction | The angle light bends through an object. |
| Transfer | To change from one form to another. |
