why would a pregnant woman need to ensure that she gets adequate quantities of iron? so the body can make the extra red blood cells needed to carry oxygen to the fetus. Her growing fetus is also making red blood cells. They both need the extra iron in the diet to make more haemoglobin to carry more oxygen. what is ovulation? ovulation is the follicle bursts releasing the egg, some follicle cells and the fluid into the oviduct. why would an infertile female take fertility drugs containing FSH? to stimulate the release of eggs and increase the chances of pregnancy.
why would a pregnant woman need to ensure that she gets adequate quantities of iron? because they need to make tissues. the mother makes muscle tissue in the uterus in preparation for birth. fetus (growing & developing - many new cells made) define menopause. menopause is when the woman's period stop as her menstrual cycles have stopped. list 4 mechanical methods to prevent pregnancy. IUD (intra-uterine device), cap/diaphragm, condom, femidom.
how long would a normal pregnancy take? about 9 months what age would menopause usually happen? between the ages of 45 and 55 years. what does HIV stand for? Human immunodeficiency virus
what hormone is release from the pituitary gland that stimulates the muscles of the uterus to contract? oxytocin what does FSH stand for? follicle stimulating hormone. what does AID stand for Acquired Immunodeficiency syndrome.
give 2 advantages of breastfeeding Enable a close bond to form between mother and baby that are beneficial to both and it's free. what does LH stand for? luteinising hormone. how is HIV transmitted? in the blood and semen. can be passed during unprotected sexual intercourse or needle or baby.
why shouldn't a mother smoke? Since it contains nicotine and carbon monoxide, they can cross the placenta and can result in premature or underweight babies. give three effects that testosterone has on the body of a boy at puberty. the testes makes sperm cells, the deepening of the voice, the growth of the male sex organs. how can AIDS be prevented? use condom during sexual intercourse, free needle exchange schemes, careful screening of donated blood used for transfusion.
what is menstruation? during a period, the lining of the uterus breaks down and blood and calls pass out of the vagina. give three effects that oestrogen has on the body of a girl at puberty. the growth of female sex organs, growth of hair on parts of the body, widening of the hips.
