| Menstruation | When the lining of the uterus breaks down and blood and cells pass out of the vagina. |
| Implantation | When the fertilized egg divides to form a ball of cells which falls into the thick uterus lining. |
| Menopause | This is usually between the ages of 45 and 55 when the woman's period stops as her menstrual cycle has stopped. |
| Follicle Stimulating Hormone | A pituitary hormone which starts the cycle by stimulating a follicle to develop. |
| Luteinising Hormone | A pituitary hormone that travels to the ovary in the blood, stimulating it to release an egg and stimulating the remaining follicle cells to form a yellow body. |
| Progesterone | This makes the uterus lining thicken even more and prevents it breaking down. |
| Transmission of HIV | In the blood and semen. It can pass through unprotected sex, needles contaminated with infected blood and mother to baby. |
| AIDS | Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, a stage in the HIV where its a virus that weakens the body's immune system making it easier for the person to be infected by other diseases. |

| Pituitary Gland | At the base of the brain and starts to make hormones that stimulate the testes and the ovaries. |
| Puberty in Boys | Testes make testosterone; growth of male sex organs, testes make sperm, growth of hair on face, deeper voice and development of muscle. |
| Puberty in Girls | Ovaries make oestrogen; growth of female sex organs, start of menstrual cycle and period, growth of hair, development of breasts and widening of hips. |
| HIV | Human Immunodeficiency Virus, a human pathogen that enters human cells and uses the cell to make more viruses that enter more cells, etc. |
| Follicle | Each potential egg is surrounded by a small group of cells and together they form a follicle. |
| Ovulation | When after two weeks, the follicle bursts releasing the egg, some follicle cells and the fluid into the oviduct. |
| Prevention of AIDS | Use of condoms, free needle exchange schemes to reduce the shared needles amongst drug uses and careful screening of donated blood. |
