Intro to Earth Science

QuestionAnswer
Classification Grouping observations or objects
Cyclic change Change that happens in a repeating pattern Ex: seasons
Density amount of matter/particles per unit of volume, Units g/ml or g/cm3 usually
Dynamic Equilibrium state of balance where a change in system results in another change so the system stays in balance
Inference a logical guess based on observation
Interface boundry between 2 things Ex: Interface between surface of Honeoye Creek and the air
Mass Amount of matter in an object, atomic particles
Observation Uses 5 senses and tools to collect info about something
Percent deviation the amount of error in a measurement, expressed as a percent (%)
Rate of change How fast/slow something is changing
Volume How much space something takes up units: L, mL, cm3
Measurements required in science to add precision and accuracy (BUT NO measurement is perfect!)
