Measuring Earth

| Contour Interval | difference in elevation between 2 consecutive, unconnected lines on a topographic map |
| Contour Line | an isoline on a topographer or contour map that connects points of equal elevation on a planet's surface |
| Elevation | vertical distance above/below sea level |
| Gradient | slope,rate of change;amount of change in field distance change |
| Hachured Lines | little lines on a contour lines indicating DECREASING elevation, sows a depression, crater, etc. |
| Hydrosphere | Area/layer of Earth & atmosphere in which liquid water is found |
| Latitude | Runs East and West, runs horizontal |
| Lithosphere | area/layers of Earth made of rock; crust |
| Longitude | Runs North and South and is vertical |
| Model | anyway of showing the properties of an object, event or system |
| Profile | a side view of a location topography; topography is aka landscape |
