prophase nuclear membrane and nucleolus disappear
metaphase the spindle fibers begin to apply tension on the chromosomes, forming a line across the cell
anaphase the spindle fibers begin to contract pulling the chromosomes apart. the chromosomes are drawn to either side of the cell
telophase the spindle fibbers begin to disappear. a nuclear membrane developed around each new set of chromosomes.nucleolus appears in each nucleus. chromosomes uncoil into smaller strands of chromatin. the cell is ready to divide.
