Allele Two or more alternative of gene that arise by mutation and are found at the same place on a chromosome.
Evolution The process which different kinds of living organisms are thought to have developed and diversified from earlier forms during the history of the earth.
Gene A unit of heredity that is transferred from a parent to offspring and is held to determine some characteristic of the offspring.
Genotype The genetic constitution of an individual organism.
Natural Selection Process whereby organisms better adapted to their environment tend to survive and produce more offspring.

Extinction The state or process of a species, family, or larger group being or becoming extinct.
Genetics The study of heredity and the variation of inherited characteristics.
Mutation The changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, caused by the alteration of single base units in DNA.
Phenotype The set of observable characteristics of an individual resulting from the interaction of its genotype with the environment.
Recessive Genetics relating to or denoting heritable characteristics controlled by genes that are expressed in offspring only when inherited from both parents.
