What is Diatomic? | Diatomic molecules are molecules composed only of two atoms, of either the same or different chemical elements. |
What is Law of Conservation of mass? | Law of Conservation of Mass is a relation stating that in a chemical reaction, the mass of the products equals the mass of the reactants. |
What is physical change? | a change from one state (solid or liquid or gas) to another without a change in chemical composition |
What is chemical change? | Chemical changes happen on a molecular level when you have two or more molecules that interact and create a new molecule or two |
What is an element? | substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances |
What is a chemical formula? | a representation of a substance using symbols for its constituent elements. |
What is a element molecule? | molecule made up of one type of atom |
What is a chemical equation? | shorthand form for writing what reactants are used and what reactants are used and what products are formed in a chemical reaction; sometimes shows whether energy is produced or absorbed |
What is a chemical reaction? | process that produces chemical change resulting in new substances that have properties different from those of the orginal substances |
What are reactants (in a chemical equation)? | substance that exists before a chemical reaction begins |
What are products (in a chemical equation)? | substance that forms as a results of a chemical reaction |
What is a coefficient? (in a chemical equation) | tells the number of molecules. |
What is a subscript? (in a chemical equation) | tells the number of certain types of atom in one molecule |
What is a compound molecule? | molecules made of more than one type of atom |
