| What is an Observation? | An Observation is an interaction of one or more senses- sight, hearing, touch, taste, or smell- with the environment or surroundings. |
| What are Instruments? | Instruments are things that have been invented and developed to extend the powers of an OBSERVATION. Instruments improve our ability to observe and to make measurements that would otherwise be very inaccurate or even impossible to make. |
| What is an Inference? | An INFERENCE is an interpretation of one or more observations. |
| What is the process of INFERRING? | The process of INFERRING, or making inferences, includes proposing explanations or reaching conclusions. |
| What is a Prediction? | A PREDICTION is an inference based on observations that indicate what will happen in the future. |
| What is Classification? | Classification is the grouping of objects, and or events, and is based on observable properties. |
| What is Measurement? | Measurement is a means of describing observations using numbers. All measurements contain at least one of the three basic dimensional quantities- time, length, or mass. |
| What is Time? | Time is the instant at which something happens or the period during which a change occurs. |
| What is Length? | Length is a measure of the distance between two points. |
| What is Mass? | Mass is the amount of matter in an object. |
| What is a Standard Unit? | A Standard Unit is an accepted measurement against which other measurements can be compared. |
| What is Percent Deviation/ Percent Error? | Percent Deviation/ Percent Error is the formula on how to see how far of a percent your measurement was off from the ACCEPTED VALUE. |
| What is Density? | Density is defined as the quantity of material contained in a certain amount of space. |
| What is a PHASE(state)? | The phase (state) in which a sample of matter is found depends on how closely packed the particles are. |
