Vocab/parts of cells

QuestionAnswer
cell wall A rigid layer of material that gives structure to the cells of plants and some other organisms.
cell The basic unit of structure and function in living things.
nucleus The control center of a eukaryotic cell that contains the information that determines the cell's form of funcion.
cell membrane The outer cell boundary that controls which substance can enter or leave the cell.
chloroplast A structure in plant cells and some other organisms that captures energy from the sunlight and uses it to produce food.
mitochondria Rod shaped structure that converts food energy the cells uses to carry functions.
cytoplasm A clear, thick, gel-like substance found inside a cell that supports the organelles.
