Observing using one or more of your senses to gather information
Predicting making a forecast of what will happen in the future
Hypothesis possible explanation or answer to a scientific question
Relief difference in elevation between the highest and lowest parts of an area
Plain landform made up of flat or slightly rolling land with low relief
Elevation height above sea level
Mountain landform with high elevation and high relief
Plateau landform with high elevation and a level (flat) surface
Mountain landform with high elevation and high relief
Scale compares distance on a map (or globe) to the actual distance on Earth
Longitude distance in degrees east or west of the Prime Meridian (vertical lines)
Topographic Map a map that shows the elevation, relief & landforms of an area
Equator 0 degrees latitude - an imaginary line around the Earth equally between the North and South Poles that divides the northern & southern hemispheres
Prime Meridian 0 degrees longitude- the starting point for measuring distance both East & West around the Earth
Earth Science science that focuses on planet Earth within the universe
Atmosphere a mixture of gases that surround Earth
Hydrosphere Earth's water & ice (oceans, lakes, rivers)
Biosphere all living things
Lithosphere the outer solid, rocky layer of Earth
Landform shape of the land and surfaces on Earth
