| Chemical Change | A process in which one or more substances are changed into one or more different substances. |
| Element | Substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances. |
| Chemical Formula | A combination of symbols used to express the chemical composition of a substance. |
| Element Molecule | A group of atoms bonded together to make an element. |
| Compound Molecule | Where two or more elements are put together. |
| Chemical Equation | A form for writing what reactants are used and what products are formed in a chemical reaction. |
| Chemical Reaction | Process that produces chemical change, resulting in new substances that have properties different from original substance. |
| Reactants (in a chemical equation) | Substance that exists before a chemical reaction occurs. |
| Products (in a chemical equation) | Substance that forms as a result of a chemical reaction. |
| Coefficient (in a chemical equation) | The number before the variable. |
| Subscript (in a chemical equation) | Subscripts are used in writing formulas. The subscript indicates the number of the preceding element. |
