This principle is equivalent to the conservation of energy, in the sense when energy or mass is enclosed in a system and none is allowed in or out, its quantity cannot otherwise change (hence, its quantity is "conserved"). law of conervation of mass
occur when objects or substances undergo a change that does not change their chemical composition physical changes
occur when a substance combines with another to form a new substance chemical change
one of a class of substances that cannot be separated into simpler substances by chemical means. element
molecular formula is a way of expressing information about the atoms that constitute a particular chemical compound. chemical fomula
are molecules composed only of two atoms, of either the same or different chemical elements. element (diatomic) molecule
a molecule that contains at least two different elements. All compounds are molecules but not all molecules are compounds. compound molecule
the symbolic representation of a chemical reaction where the reactant entities are given on the left hand side and the product entities on the right hand side chemical equation
a process that leads to the transformation of one set of chemical substances to another. chemical reaction
gives the reactants and products reaction (in a chemical equation)
Chemical reactions are really the rearrangement of the connectivity between the atoms in the reagenmts to produce products product ( in a chemical equation)
the numbers of molecules of reactants or product. coefficient (in a chemical equation)
