Element Substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances.
Chemical Formula Representation of a substance using symbols for its constituent elements.
Element (Diatomic) Molecule are molecules composed only of two atoms, of either the same or different chemical elements.
Compound Molecule Is made up of more than one element.
Chemical Equation Short hand form for writing what reactants are used and what products are formed in a chemical reation. Sometimes shows whether energy is produced or absorbed.
Chemical Reaction Process that produces chemilcal change resulting in new substances that have properties different from those of the original substances.
Reactants (in a chemical equation Substance that exists before a chemical reaction begins.

Subscript (in a chemcal equation) The number of molecules of reactants or products.
