Identifying cells

cellHow to identify it.
red blood cells or erythrocytes Are biconcave discs. They transport oxygen and co2. Their shape means they have a large surface area to speed up gas exchange. Their cytoplasm is packed with haemoglobin. mature red blood cells don't have a nucleus which gives more room for haemoglobin.
More about edrythrocytes They are very small and flexible, so they can be flattened against capillary walls. this reduces the distance that gases have to diffuse across which again speeds up gas exchange.
Leucocytes They are white blood cells
Neutrophils Have small granules in the cytoplasm. these cells engulf microorganisms by phagocytosis.
lymphocytes Have a large, darkly-stained nucleous surrounded by a thin layer of clear cytoplasm. There are two kinds of lymphocytes, B & T, wich look the same but have different function. Both are cells of the immune system.
monocytes They are the largest kind of leucocytes. they have a large, bean-shaped nucleus and cear cytoplasm. They spend 2-3 days in the circulatory system, then move into the tissues.here they become macrophages, engulfing microorganisms and other foreign materials
platelets these are fragments of giant cells called megakatyocytes, they are involved in blood clotting
