Cell Structure and Function

QuestionAnswer
What does selectively permeable mean? Some substances that can pass through the cell membrane while others cannot.
What does diffusion mean? The main method of small molecules moving across the cell membrane.
What does osmosis mean? The diffusion of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane.
What does passive transport mean? The movement of dissolved materials through a cell membrane without using cellular energy.
What does active transport mean? The movement through a cell membrane using cellular energy.
