Scientific Method
| Question | Answer |

| Conclusion | The results of the experiment. |
| Analyze | Explains the data- usually a graph. The independent variable is on the X axis and the dependent variable is on the Y axis. X is on the bottom and Y is high-(going up the left side) |
| Scientific Method | Guide for solving problems. |
| Experiment | Tests a hypothesis. |
| Hypothesis | Suggested answer- or guess to the question that can be tested. Uses the independent variable and dependent variable in a If- independent, then- dependent variable. |
| Control Variables | The set up of the experiment that are not allowed to change. |
| Independent Variable | The one thing in the experiment that is different and you are in control of. |
| Biology | The Study of Life. Bio means life. Ology means the study of. |
| Observations | Exactly what happened. No opinion should be included. |
| Data | Usually put in a Data Table- the measurements taken during an experiment. |
| Quantitative Data | Data that uses measurement and numbers. Example: The pencil was 8 inches long. There were only 5 eggs in the nest. |
| Qualitative Data | Data that uses descriptions. Ex: The air smelled like burnt wood. The rabbit was faster than the fox. It sounded like pebbles on the roof. |
| Dependent Variable | What you will observe and measure. |
