Who was Mirabeau B. Lamar? He was elected vice president in 1839. He was elected president of Texas in 1839. He is the Father of Education in Texas.
Who was Steven Austin? He was the secretary of state. He died on December 27, 1836.
Who were the Allen Brothers? They promised to build all of the government buildings if their town was made capitol.
Who was Felix Huston? He took command of the TX army after the war. He wanted to attack Mexico.
Who was A.S. Johnson? He was sent to take over the army. He failed.
Who was Andrew Jackson? He was the president of the U.S. and a friend of Sam Houston's.
Who was Henry Morfit? He was Jackson's spy. He recommended that the U.S. not recommend Texas.
Who were Wharton and Hunt? Houston sent them to Washington D.C. to gain recognistion for Texas. They succeded.
Who was J.P. Henderson? He was sent to Europe to gain recognition for Texas. He was successful in France, Great Britian, and the Netherlands.
Who was Cynthia Ann Parker? A young girl who was captured by the Kiowas.
Who was Quanah Parker? He was Cynthia Parker's son and the last great War Chief of the Kiowa nation.
Who was Santa Anna? He was the former president of Mexico. He was removed from office after the Texas revolution.
Who was Edwin Waller? He designed Austin, Texas. Austin was once called Waterloo.
Who was Cheif Bowels? He was the leader of the Cherokee Nation. He was killed in the Battle of Neches River.
Who was Matilda Lockhart? She was a girl who was a prisoner of the Comanches. She reported that there were other prisoners. A fight broke out with the Texas Rangers.
What happened in the Council House Fight? 7 Texans and 35 Comanches were killed.
Who was Buffalo Hump? He was the leader of the Comanches. They attacked Victoria and Linnville.
Who were Edward Burleson and Ben McCulloch? They led the Texans at the Battle of the Colorado River. Killed 130 Comanches and 0 Texans.
Who was Rafael Vasquez? He led the Mexican Army that captured most of South Texas in 1842. He raised the Mexican flag over the Alamo. He withdrew after a few days.
Who was Angelina Eberly? She led the people of Austin, Texas in the Archives War.
Who was General Adrian Woll? He led a larger Mexican Army back to Texas later on in 1842. They recaptured South Texas. It took several months to drive them out.
Who was General Alexander Somervell? He was ordered to patrol the Rio Grande valley by Sam Houston.
Who was Nicholas Dawson? He and his men were killed by the Mexican army at LaGrange.
Who was William Fisher? He and 300 men crossed the Rio Grande and attacked the town of Mier. They were defeated by General Ampudia.
Who was James K. Polk? He was the president of the U.S. He was in favor of annexation.
Who was John Tyler? He was the president of the U.S. during the Mexican War.
Who was Dr. Anson Jones? He was the last president of Texas.
What was Columbia? It was the capitol during the Texas revolution.
Who were the Texas Rangers? A police force created to control outlaws, Indians, and patrol the Rio Grande valley.
What was Austin? It became the permanant capitol of Texas in 1830. It was once called Waterloo.
What was the Santa Fe Expedition? Lamar tried to capture New Mexico. He sent an army to Santa Fe. He failed.
What was the Black Bean Affair? The Mexican Army forced the Texas prisoners to draw beans. Black ment death. White meant jail.
What were Regulators and Modulators? They were fighting over the land in East Texas. Houston sent the army to restore "law and order."
What was Joint Resolution? Texas was allowed to join the U.S. by this. It was passed by a simple majority.
What was Manifest Destiny? A belief that the U.S. would expand from coast to coast.
Texas became... Texas became the 28 state in the U.S. on February 19, 1846.
