who's Douglass Houghton? geologist who found copper in the upper peninsula.
what's slavery? keeping people against their will and forcing them to work for you without them getting paid.
What's compromise? agreement in which each side gives up part of it's demands.
Whats a constitution? plan of government.
Whats the war of 1812? The second official war between Great Britan and America
Who's Oliver Hazard Perry? A naval officer who helped win a battle in put-in-bay which helped the Americans win the war of 1812
What's impressment? Stopping american ships, kidnapping sailors and forcing them to serve the British.
Who's Lewis Cass? Governor of Michigan territory in 1813. He got a lot of Native American land through treaties
What's a pioneer? One of the first people to settle in a new part of a country.
Whats a steamboat? A boat powered by steam.
Whats a canal? A hand made waterway.
What do you have to do to be self-reliant? Take care of your self.
Who's Stevens T.Mason? "Boy" governor who was Michigan's first elected governor
What does ordinance mean? Laws
Who are immigrants? People who leave one country to live in another.
What's a reservation? land set aside by the government as settlements.
What's a township? Block of land, 6 miles long and 6 miles wide.
