QuestionAnswer
A regulation sign is normally what shape? White rectangles with black letters or symbols, but some are different shapes, and some can use red letters or symbols.
What is the normal color and shape of a warning sign? Yellow, with black letters or symbols.
What color and shape is a destination sign? Green with white letters and symbols.
What must you do at a STOP sign? Come to a FULL STOP, yield the right of way to vehicles and pedestrians in or approaching the intersection. GO when it is safe.
What does it indicate if an edge line angles in toward the center of the road? The road is narrower ahead.
If an intersection has crosswalk lines but no STOP line, where must you stop for a red light at that intersection? Before entering the crosswalk lines.
What type of pavement marking is used to show you which lane you must use for a turn? Arrows
Which of the following must you obey over the other three: steady red light, flashing red light, STOP sign, police officer? Police officer
Single Broken passing permitted
Single solid Passing or lane change permitted only if obstructions or conditions require it.
Double Solid Must stay in lane, no passing.
Solid and broken together Solid side - no passing. Broken side - passing permitted.
What is the hand signal for a stop? A right turn? To indicate a stop, bend your arm at the elbow with your hand and forearm pointing toward the ground, and your palm open and facing backward.
If two drivers enter an intersection from opposite directions at the same time, and one travels straights, the other prepares to turn left, which must yield the right-of-way? One turning to the left
If you enter an intersection to make a left turn, but oncoming traffic prevents the turn immediately what should you do? Be alert for traffic, heading toward you from the left and from the lane you are about to go across.
If you reach an intersection that is not controlled at the same time as a driver on your right, and both of you prepare to go straight, who has the right-of-way? driver on the left must yield the right-of-way to the driver on the right.
What must you do if you enter a road from a driveway? yield the right-of-way to pedestrians and traffic on the roadway.
You face a green light, but traffic on the other side of the intersection does not allow you to travel all the way through the intersection. May you enter the intersection? clears, so you do not block the intersection.
Does a vehicle prepared to enter a traffic circle or rotary have right-of-way over vehicles already in the circle? drivers already in the circle.
What will you do if you hear a siren nearby but cannot see where the emergency vehicle is? you can safely pull over to the right-side edge of the road and stop until you are sure it is not headed toward you.
How far before a turn must you signal? Signal 100 feet before your intended turn. Be careful that you do not signal too early, though. If there are streets, driveways or entrances between you and where you want to turn, wait until you have passed them to signal.
When you prepare for a right turn, should you remain as close to the center of the lane as possible? Reduce speed and stay as far to the right as possible. Begin the turn in the lane nearest to the right-hand curb and end the turn in the lane nearest the right-hand curb. Give turn signal. Yield to pedestrians who may be crossing your path.
Where must you position your vehicle when you prepare to make a left turn from a two-way roadway into a one-way roadway? as close as possible to the center line.
